Imagedit

Privacy Policy

Imagedit is a browser tool for quick image edits. This page explains what happens to the images you drop in, and what data we do and do not handle.

Last updated: October 10, 2026

What we collect

You can use Imagedit without an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or payment details, and we run no advertising or analytics trackers.

The one piece of personal data we handle is your IP address. We use it to limit how many images one visitor can process per hour, which is 20. It is held in the server's memory for the length of that window and is not written to a database.

How your images are processed

Imagedit has four tools, and they do not all work the same way.

Crop & Resize and Compress run entirely in your browser. Your image is read with the Canvas API and never leaves your device.

Remove BG and Upscale need more processing power than a browser can give, so they run on our server. When you use one of these tools, the image is uploaded to Imagedit, processed, and the result is returned to you. These two tools rely on the third-party services described below.

File handling and storage

We do not store your images on our servers. An image is held in memory only while the request is being processed, and our code never logs or writes the image bytes to disk. Once the result is returned, the server keeps nothing.

Your browser keeps a Recent list of the last five results in IndexedDB so you can reopen them. That list lives only on your device, and you can delete single entries or clear the whole list from the Recent strip at any time.

The third-party services used for Remove BG and Upscale receive your image and may retain it under their own policies. We cannot guarantee how long they keep it, and we do not control what they do with it.

Third-party services

To remove a background or upscale an image, Imagedit sends the image to one of these services, depending on which is available at the time:

  • Magic Studio (magicstudio.com) removes backgrounds. Our request asks Magic Studio to delete the data after processing, but how long they keep it is governed by their own privacy policy.
  • Cloudinary (cloudinary.com) performs upscaling. The image is uploaded to Cloudinary, and the result is fetched from their network.
  • jaky.dev is a fallback for both tools. It accepts an image by URL, so the image is first uploaded to x0.at, a temporary file host that keeps files for a period depending on file size. From there, jaky.dev processes it.

We send the image and the minimum settings the operation needs, such as the upscale factor. We do not send a name or account details, because we never collect them.

Cookies and local storage

We do not set cookies.

The theme toggle saves your light or dark choice in your browser's local storage. The Recent list described above is stored in IndexedDB. Both stay on your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Security

Imagedit is served over HTTPS. Credentials for the third-party services are kept on the server and are never sent to your browser. Because we do not store your images, there is no image archive of ours to breach.

No system is perfectly secure, and sending an image to a third-party service always carries the risks of how that service handles it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Imagedit after a change means you accept the updated policy.
